Take a picnic this week in the scenic Sandy Andrews Park, if you are lucky there may be a ball game or two as well!

Sandy Andrews Park is located on 221 North in the community of North Cove.  

The facility consists of one lighted baseball field and a playground.  There are also several picnic shelters located near the North Fork River.

Get back to nature this week at the Woodlawn Roadside Park, it's a beautiful hike!

The Woodlawn Roadside Park is located on United States Forest Service property and is leased by McDowell County.

The facility features a restroom building and several picnic tables.  In addition, the park is located adjacent to the Mountains To Sea Trail, as well as a small loop trail with fitness stations.


Lindley Park

Come and play in Old Fort's Lindley Park this week, it has wide open spaces, a playground, and a ball field too!

The Town of Old Fort is home to Lindley Park and the Old Fort Pool.  The facilities are leased to McDowell County by the Town of Old Fort.

Lindley Park features two lighted ball fields, one small ball field, a playground area, tennis courts, two picnic shelters, and a concession stand.

Cool off, enjoy a picnic, and paddle inthe stream at Andrews Geyser this week.

Just a short way out of the center of Old Fort is Andrews Geyser, a fountain and picturesque recreation area close to the creek.


The area has a spacious grassy area, and picnic tables and grill stations along the creek side for families to enjoy.

Come on up the hill this week tothe Mount Ida Trail - it's well worth the trip!

The public is invited to visit the Mount Ida Wilderness Area, a one-half mile moderate to strenuous trail to the top of City property on Mt. Ida overlooking Downtown Marion. Enjoy a hike or a picnic, surrounded by beautiful scenery and views stretching for miles!


McDowell County Sports Complex

McDowell County Sports Complex

The McDowell County Sports Complex (formerly Maple Leaf Fields) is the county's main baseball/softball complex.  The facility is comprised of four lighted fields and a concession stand/restroom building.

The facility serves as the home field for youth teams from Marion, West Marion, Pleasant Gardens, Eastfield, and Nebo.  Numerous tournaments are also held at the facility throughout the year.
